IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Kathleen
Yeley
December 29, 1937 – February 6, 2022
Donna Kathleen Moore Yeley was born December 29, 1937, in Newton, Kansas and, after a long illness, passed peacefully at home on February 6. 2022. at the home she shared in Wichita with her loving husband Don Yeley.
Don called her "DK" or sometimes Donna Kathleen and her kids called her Mama. Her 34 Grand and Greatgrandchildren called her grandma, Grandma Kansas by the Texas bunch. She was a warm, wonderful, compassionate lady who always thought of others and made you feel special. She loved watching the news, Home & Garden TV, and Law & Order. She loved British comedy and murder mysteries. She was a Disciples of Christ Christian who attended first Broadway Christian Church and later New Hope Christian Church. A graduate of Wichita's East High School, Donna worked for 10 years as a Medical Secretary at the Wichita VA Hospital. On May 27, 1967, Donna married USAF Capt. Don Yeley in the Prayer Chapel at Broadway Christian Church. Getting their honeymoon off to an exciting start, Don was busted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol doing 10mph over the limit in his '66 GTO. The Trooper remarked, "Going a little fast, son." to which Don replied, "Yes Sir! Sorry, Sir! We just got married 2 hours ago, sir!" The Trooper, noting his excitement, let him go with a warning to slow down and thus began their 54 years of adventures together. Being stationed in California, Louisiana, and Illinois, Donna enjoyed seeing the United States and loved the 3 ½ years they were assigned to Germany. She loved travelling Europe and visiting France, Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, seeing all the sights. When their military service concluded in Oklahoma, they retired to Wichita, closer to Donna's parents, Wilma and Don Moore. In the years prior to her illness, Donna served as head of Outreach at Broadway Christian Church and delighted in keeping up with the Holidays and Observances decorations at New Hope Christian Church. In her desire to help others, she led the church's Al-Anon group and believed strongly in the program's message and mission. She loved Christmastime, collecting antiques, gardening and was an avid lover of animals. She especially loved cows!
She is deeply mourned and survived by her husband, Don Yeley; daughters Elaine Tomlin, Diane Tyler and spouse Dorothy Curtis; son Greg Yeley and wife Kristin; 18 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
