Denis Erwin Ellis

Denis Erwin Ellis of Wichita, Kansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, September 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Denis was born on January 4, 1932 to Clyde Erwin and Ruby Susan Ellis. After two years in the Army serving in the Korean War he moved to Wichita, Kansas where he met his wife Mary. They were married March 21, 1954 and had two children, Denice and Ron. Denis worked at the Wichita Eagle for 42 years and retired and took care of his ailing mother. He enjoyed working on cars, spending time with family and served as a deacon in the church for 62 years and was a living example of a witness for Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Ellis, daughter Denice Bay (Mike), son Ron Ellis (Leslie), three grandsons, three great grandsons, one great granddaughter, and one great-great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his father Clyde Erwin Ellis, mother Ruby Susan Ellis and brothers R.J. and Don Ellis. Denis's celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Baptist Church, 844 W. 53rd Street North, Wichita, Kansas with burial following at White Chapel Memorial Gardens 1806 N. Oliver, Wichita, Kansas. Memorials with Gideon's International or Union Rescue Mission.
