IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dean
Hawkins
January 13, 1939 – January 30, 2026
Dean Paul Hawkins, age 87, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on January 30, 2026.
Dean was born in Grenola, Kansas, and lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for family. Over the years, he worked for Safeway, Lear Jet, and Toys "R" Us, and in his younger days he could often be found mowing yards and painting houses with the help of his trusty white Chevy pickup.
Dean loved watching all kinds of sports and, in his younger years, enjoyed bowling. He found great peace in driving through the countryside, taking in the scenery, and treasured every family gathering. One of his favorite routines was his weekly outings with his brother Frank—time he truly cherished.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Charley; his mother, Lucy; his first wife, Dorothy; his second wife, Faye; his baby boy, Paul; two stepsons; three grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his "partner in crime," Andromeda (Andie) the cat; his brother Robert (Bob) and wife Mary; his brother Frank and wife Judy; one adopted daughter; four stepchildren; twenty-four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dean will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of simple pleasures, and the devotion he had to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Grenola Museum C/o Phyliss Metcalf 251A Road 3 Grenola, KS 67346 or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
