Obituary

It is with peaceful hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Davida (Davie Jo) (McMillen) Walker who was ushered into heaven on Feb 28, 2026, at the age of 79 surrounded by family in her home in Wichita, Kansas. Her love and sense of kindness, warmth, and generosity touched the lives of all who met her because her life was completely committed to Yeshua.

Davie was born on Dec 1, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas to David and Ester McMillen. She grew up with her sisters, surrounded by love and laughter. She graduated from Wichita North High then attended key punch trade school which opened the door for a job at Wesley Hospital. She was working at Wesley when she met and married Jack Walker. She, however, attributed her real growth to graduating from the Klemmer Institute as a Samurai Leader. She studied music for over 25 years as a student of Cantor Nathan Lam at Stephen Weise University in Southern California. Davie used her training to minister in music in many locations all over North America; July 4 celebrations, graduations from Military School, Ministry in puppet and song to nursing homes and countless churches plus various church locations in Mexico and in England.

Davie had a passion for spending time with her children, grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She has hosted many Sunday family potlucks in her home every week. She was an overcomer. A 32-year liver transplant survivor (1994); and defeated parotid cancer (2023). She was the founder of an organ transplant support group where she provided a forum and funds to help those undergoing transplantation. Taking it a step further she competed in the Transplant Games both in swimming and in track and field events. She won several medals each time. Another of her great joys was time with family and friends in the great outdoors; Colorado for horseback riding, hiking and adventuring with friends, Marty and Marvin Ginsburg, Hawaii where friends and family often joined. She did

extensive travels around many islands. She checked off her bucket list and hiked to the bottom of the trail at the end of the road to Hawi Hawaii (2019). In Hawaii she met friends who became family and enjoyed much time there. She brought much joy to family and friends through her many scripture verses plastered in her iPhone, on the walls of her home and sent in countless text messages. Davie was an incredible loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend always placing God first in her life. She had strong family values and lifted us all in her prayers in her private War Room. Those prayers will continue to carry us all forward.

Davie is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jack Walker. Her children Toni (Bill) Taylor of Wichita, KS, Renee (Rusty) Darrah of Koshkonong, MO, and Daughter- In-Law Gail Walker of Surprise, AZ. Grandchildren Rachel, Jamin, and Natalie Walker; Nathan (Jessica) Taylor, Kimberly (Adam) Scheerger, Chauntae (Dan) Herold, Rutt (Trixie) Darrah. Great grandkids Riley Lindsay, Axel Walker; Tristin and Addison Taylor, Ethan, Abigail, Jonathan, William and Isaiah Young; Ellie, Leila, and Theo Herold; Holden and Bennett Scheerger, Roo Bear and Rosie Renee Darrah. Siblings Frances Wilson, Kathleen (Don) McClure and Jeanell Walker. Nephews and nieces Craig (Keri Anne) Walker, Darren (Arie) Walker, Rick (Michelle) Wilson, Christina (Scott) Gottschall. Great Nephews and Nieces Laurel, Anastasia and Natasha Walker; Ian and Abigail Wilson, Noah Gottschall, Chuckie (Sarah) Gardener, Ashley (Matt) Fowler. Daughters of the heart; Dawn Deakin, Karey Correa and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren of the heart.

She is preceded in death by parents David and Ester McMillen and Rev. I.L. and Stella Walker; her sons Larry and Darryl Brent Walker, granddaughter Tamara Taylor Young, great granddaughter Mackenzie Young; Brother-In-Laws Joe Wilson and Dennis Walker. Niece Dianna Gardener and Nephew David Mannos; great niece Candice Cunningham. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

A memorial service will be held on March 24th at 10:00AM at Vintage Faith Church in Wichita, KS where family and friends are invited to celebrate Davie's life and legacy. Interment will be at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, KS at a later date.

Though Davie may be gone from our sight, her spirit lives on through the love, laughter, and memories she leaves behind in her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
