Vaughn, Darlene Marie 68, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 7:43 p.m. at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, Murfreesboro, TN after a long battle with health issues. Darlene was born on January 15, 1947, in El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of Wilbur and May Strain. She attended Wichita East High School. Darlene worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She held positions at Wesley Medical Center as a nurse assistant, unit clerk, and admissions clerk. She volunteered for many years at the American Legion Post 256 where everyone loved her chili! Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; and sister, Janet Mae Rogers. Survivors include her children, Sherri (Alain) Durand, Michael (Angela) Stafford, and Karren (Jeff) Stone; brother, Roney (Marty) Strain; grandchildren, Jessika, Dylan, Brittani, Hannah, Chloe, Eva, Abagaiyl, Austin; great-grandchildren, Grant and Kallie. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015; Visitation hours are from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015, both at Old Mission. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Darlene's memory to the Kansas Humane Society.
