Obituary

Danna Kay (Butler) Kelly, of Norton, was born January 20, 1953 to Robert and Lucille (Whipple) Butler. She passed away January 6, 2022 at Newton Presbyterian Manor.

Danna went to Friends University and earned a degree in art and education. She married Richard Kelly in 1973 and they had three children together. She went on to teach art at several schools in Louisiana and Kansas. They moved from Louisiana to Oberlin, KS in 1984. Then they moved to a country home outside Norton, KS in 1993, where they were near the lake and wildlife areas. Most recently she served as Director of the Norton Learning Center until her retirement. Danna enjoyed hunting, fishing, her dog Ginger, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Danna is survived by her daughter Erin (Christopher) Hernandez, son Logan (Allison), grandchildren Aurora, Michael, and Peter Hernandez, and Finnegan Kelly, brothers Kim (Bic) Butler, Mark Butler, sisters Dawn Butler, and Kelly (James) Bowman, uncle Gary Whipple, her loving former husband Richard Kelly, who cared for her for the duration of her illness, numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and son Rick Kelly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund for Alzheimer's research.
