Obituary

C. W. Ward, 93, passed away peacefully September 22, 2025, at Catholic Care Center after a long illness with Gertie at his side, he was born in England, Arkansas on January 29, 1932.

C. W. enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.  After serving in the Air Force he went to work for Boeing aircraft company and from there he went to work for Coonrod and Waltz construction company where he was foreman and built many of the buildings still seen in Wichita KS today, like the Cotillion ballroom, the Holiday Inn (which has since been converted to 250 Douglas Place).  C. W. built several Dillion stores in Wichita as well. C. W. never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone who asked.

C. W. is survived by his wife of 70 years Gertrude (Gertie) Mae Ward, son James Allen Ward, grandchildren Angie Mae Fike and Anita Marie Ward, 8 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.

Visitation for C. W. will be held in the Chapel on Monday September 29th at 11:00am in Old Mission Mortuary, located at 3424 E 21st Street N. followed by a 12:00 pm graveside service at White Chapel Cemetery, 1806 N Oliver, Wichita, KS.
