Curtis Wayne Banks passed away on April 8, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center. He was 95 years old.
Wayne was born in Detroit, KS. He was the youngest of seven children of Walter Banks and Josephine (Fields) Banks. His brothers and sisters have passed away before him, and Wayne was a devoted caretaker to a sister and brother in their time of need.
Wayne's childhood years were spent in the little town of Talmage, KS, where his family owned the Creamery.
He served in the Navy in World War ll as a Radioman on the aboard the USS YUKATAT (AVP-32),
a tender for seaplanes in the Pacific Ocean. Upon returning home, he married the love of his live, Shirley Kiekel, from Detroit, KS. They haf 3 children, Michael Wayne, Sherry Lynn and Cynthia Sue. And raised them in Kansas, California and Georgia. Wayne retired for a Civil Service position with the Government at the Warner Robbins Air Force Base, in Warner Robbins, GA. His wife Shirley passed away in March of 1986,not too long before Wayne retired. He also lost a grandson, Scott Wayne in June of 1988 and his son, Michael Wayne in January of 2014.
Wayne lived a long life and made many journeys. Making life long friends and memories along the way. Sharing the ups and downs of life with his family and friends with strength, humor and love.
He is survived by his two daughter, Sherry and Cindy and his daughter-in-law, Kathrine.
5 grandchildren, Kandi Kae, Adam Ray, Andrea Lynn, Nicholas St. John and Chad Michael.
11 great grandkids, Scott, Samantha, Stephen, Shane, Skylar, Gage, Teyen, Ahriana, Kyng Champ and Willow.
And 8 great great grand kids, Keelie, Kelsey, Kacey, Jayden, Jordan, Delilah, McKenzie and Carson.
Dear Dad, Grandpa and Big Pa,
You have touched our hearts, more than you will ever know or words could ever describe.
We will miss you dearly.
