Christine "Chris" Smith, 87, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012.
A private service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Mission Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation: Tuesday, Feb. 28, 4-8 p.m. at Old Mission Mortuary.
Chris was born in Rochelle, TX on July 17, 1924 to Arthur and Frankie Barker. She was considered a generous and wonderful person to all of her friends.
Chris was also a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to entertain family and friends with her fabulous "country" cooking. Chris was also an avid golfer and looked forward to her weekly card games at Crestview Country Club.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Darlene; and her loving husband, Harold, owner of Quality Chevrolet for nearly 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter Janet, and son-in-law Steve Hatchett; grandchildren, Clint Ayesh and wife, Stephanie; Matt Hatchett and wife, Ashley; Scott Hatchett and wife Jenny; Stacey Benjamin and husband, Steve; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Chris' name at the Wichita Children's Home, 810 N. Holyoke, Wichita, Ks. 67208.
