IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles
Washington
April 22, 1970 – January 13, 2026
Charles Edward Washington, beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on April 22, 1970, to Loretta Burks and the late Alvin Childress. Charles' life was rooted in family, laughter, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles received his high school diploma from Lake Providence Senior High School, where he proudly played on the basketball team. Basketball was one of his greatest passions and remained a lifelong interest. He loved the game and enjoyed sharing that passion with others.
Charles' favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He valued togetherness and cherished the moments spent with loved ones. He was also a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints and could often be found cheering enthusiastically for his favorite team.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Childress, grandmother, Beatrice Washington, and two older brothers, Johnny Washington and George Burks, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother, Loretta Burks; six beloved children; his siblings: Mary Branch of Monroe, LA; Francis Wray of Baton Rouge, LA; Michael Washington (Tammy) of Wichita, Kansas; Kim Burks Trosclair (Bobby) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Kendrick Washington of Wichita, Kansas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and a special aunt, Annie Louis.
