Betty Shanks loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Thursday October 26, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband James Hillard and her daughter Sandra Kay. Betty was born in Wichita, KS and was the third child of Ben and Cleo Munkirs. She had two older brothers and two younger sisters. Betty attended high school in Whitewater, graduating in 1949. She married Jim in 1950 and had three children, Sandy, Steve, and Debbie. Betty has nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Jim and Betty met while both of them were working in a meat packing plant. Betty worked for Woolworth and Woolco in the stockroom, and then she went to a nursing agency and worked as a scheduler until her retirement. She enjoyed being with her family and loved the holidays. She loved Betty Boop, Elvis, and the movie "To Kill A Mockingbird" with Gregory Peck. Betty loved drinking diet coke, watching game shows, and playing slots at the casino. She is loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
