Betty Jo Goodman was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 22, 1923, to Hiram and Alethea Snider. She passed away at age 101 in Wichita, Kansas on May 31, 2024.
Betty Jo was a Graduate of Wichita East High School in 1941 where her fondest memory was being part of the Peppy Pilots. Upon graduating, she traveled to Washington State where she worked in Bremerton at the Naval Shipyard. Once back in Kansas, she worked at Equipment Service, Cessna, State Farm, and finished her working career at Fidelity Bank where she retired in 1998 at the age of 75. She was an avid reader and loved painting and counted cross stitch.
She was an Eastern Star Member for over 60 years where she was Worthy Matron for Ivy Leaf Chapter on three occasions, the last being in 1999, followed by Worthy Matron for Bulah Chapter in 2000. She was also a Grand Officer for the State of Kansas. She loved her Eastern Star family and was an active participant throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, John L. Goodman and his wife Susan, grandson, Connor Goodman, granddaughter Caitlyn Goodman, great-nieces Penny Hargrove and Sherry Blue, and great-nephew Art Blue Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents Hiram and Alethea Snider, sister Juanita Kisner and husband Kenneth Kisner, husband John H. Goodman and one son, Craig Goodman.
Services to be held Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at 11:00 am at Old Mission Mortuary, 3424 E. 21st Street, Wichita KS. There is a memorial in her name with American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
