Berneice A Stadalman, CRNA was born on June 21, 1922 in Garden City, Kansas to Herbert F. Regier and Rose (Steiner) Regier. She passed away in Newton, Kansas on May 11, 2023.
From an early age, she always knew that she was going to be a nurse. After graduating from Moundridge High School, she attended nurses training at Halstead Hospital. From there she worked at the old St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita. She moved to Hardtner, Ks to work at the Achenbach Memorial Hospital, which was the only hospital in the Kansas panhandle at that time. She returned to Wichita and worked at the VA hospital, then spent many years working at St Francis Hospital. When her four children were in school, she studied anesthesia and graduated as a C.R.N.A. After many years of working in anesthesia, she retired from Bob Dole Veterans Hospital. She loved to talk of her early nursing days when nurses did everything from working in the diet kitchen to sterilizing surgical supplies. .
Berneice was well known for her spunk. She loved a good laugh and enjoyed making others laugh. She spent her retirement on the golf course and traveling. You might also find her on a bicycle or at water aerobics, but not on the sofa. She enjoyed time spent with kids and grandkids. A family week at a cabin in the Ozarks was a yearly event. Four generations of family members shared a fun time together. She and the family also loved to reminisce about their summer fishing trips to Canada in the camper. The boys were always into mischief, but Berneice stayed one step ahead of them. She lived her last two years at Newton Presbyterian Manor, where the staff quickly became her friends.
Berneice is survived by her children, Stephen (Peggy) Arnold, Greg Stadalman, Patricia (Harold) Huxman of Wichita; sister Marge (Richard) Huxman of Hesston, Ks; grandchildren, Branden Arnold, Jason Stadalman, Kristi Squires, Jerrod Huxman and Brooke Arnold; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren E Stadalman; son, Robert "Butch" Arnold; sisters, Dee Davis and Jane (Milford) Wedel; and her parents.
Visitation and service will be held Tuesday, May 23rd at Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita, Ks.. Visitation is 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM and funeral service at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
