Barbara (Schaeffer) Lightcap, of Wichita Kansas, Passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the age of 88 at St. Teresa Hospital Wichita KS.

Barbara was born Nov. 20, 1937, to John Anthony Schaeffer and Edith (Sieber) Schaeffer in Chicago Illinois.

She graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1955.

On November 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Douglas Elwood Lightcap. Due to Douglas being in the US Airforce, they made there home in several locations throughout the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Douglas, sister Jerry Owens, and daughter Darby Prater.

She is survived by daughters Dawn (Tom) Zoglmann of Conway Springs, Ks., Deborah (Glen) McGeoch of Wichita, Ks., and Son Douglas (Rose) Lightcap of Stover, Missouri. 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Old Mission Mortuary on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11:00AM with graveside to follow at 12:00PM at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
