Lynn, there wasn't much to change so I've included the proof below. Please let me know if it is okay to send to the Eagle for pricing and do you have a photo you would like submitted as well?
Barbara Jean Campbell, passed away in Wichita, Kansas on August 7, 2026. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 25, 1933 to Henry Winfield Barton and Lena Mae Dotson Barton.
Barbara was a happy wife and dedicated mother of five children. She said her theme song was “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA.” She was a homemaker of her generation who cooked every day, sewed the curtains, couch covers, and children’s clothes, led her daughters’ Scout troops, and supported her husband by keeping the books for the family’s greenhouse business.
They lived modestly except for their travels. Barbara and her husband, Gene, traveled the world extensively, visiting over 100 countries and every continent. Their great interests were history, art, and animals. They had amazing adventures and close calls.
When they were home, Barbara pursued her love of art by being a volunteer docent at the Wichita Art Museum for fifteen years, and picture lady in the schools. She worked at getting her teaching degree, but new babies interrupted her progress!
Barbara is survived by her children Lynn (Binky) Behnke, Tim (Rita) Campbell, Gina Campbell, Nick (Carla) Campbell, and son in law Don Martin. Grandchildren: Mary Behnke, Jessica (Jonathan) Gladden, Matt Martin (Bekah Porter), Collin, Brandon (Amanda), Evan (Daydra), and Nelson Campbell. Great Grandchildren: Lachlan, Ellie, Henry, Wyatt, Jericho, Izzy, and Zena Campbell and Adrianna Soderholm.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry Winfield Barton and Lena Mae Dotson Barton, her beloved husband, Gene Michael Campbell, dear daughter, Christine Marie Martin and grandchildren, Sarah Jean Behnke and Justin Barton Campbell.
Services will be held at Old Mission on Saturday August 22, 2026 at 9:00 AM and visitation from 6-9 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026.
A memorial has been established in her name at the Wichita Art Museum.
